Interjection

An interjection is a part of speech that demonstrates the emotion or feeling of someone.

Example : 

  •  Hurray! We won the match.
  •  Alas! We have lost our friend in the accident.

Rule : Interjections express sudden mood, emotions and feeling with emphasis.

Example : 

  • Wow! What a fantastic car.
  • What? You never told me that!

Rule : Some interjections are just sounds, not words because these sounds do not make any sense. 

Example :

  • Uh-oh! Dude, I think we’re in serious trouble.
  • I want to, uh, ask you out on a date.

Rule : Some interjections demonstrates only yes or no.

Example :
  • Yes! we are going to school.
  • No! I can't do that.
Rule : Some interjections are used to get someone's attention.

Example :
  • Hey! Stop messing with me!
  • Yoo-hoo! Is there anyone?
